5 Romantic Ideas For Any Day

Romantic Ideas

Although this post is around valentines day, these romantic ideas can be used for any day in the year. The ideas that I am sharing with you are inspired from friends, family and my own experiences that have worked well in the past.

1) Run a bath

Now I’m not talking about just running a standard, plain bath (they might think you’re trying to tell them they stink!), I mean pouring for scented bath oil/salts. You could even take it one step further and share the bath together if it’s big enough, so you could gently wash them and possibly give a massage too…depends how intimate you want to get.

2) Make a compilation movie

This is similar to making a mixtape or mix CD but more effective. Using video editing software you can create a short movie that has video clips and pictures of the most precious, personal and funny moments that you shared together. In between the pictures and clips you can include messages or love quotes to your loved one.

3) Send flowers to your partner’s workplace.

You can do this from anywhere in the world so it useful for long distance relationships. My flatmate is actually doing this for his girlfriend in Hong Kong this Valentine’s Day (hopefully she doesn’t read my blog, or I’ve just ruined the surprise!).

4) Buy a gift with a message inscribed

You can get a small piece of jewellery or a practical gift that your partner would use all the time with a special message carved into it. For example, you could buy a watch and inscribe a message “I’ll always have time for you”.

5) Have a picnic

Not just a regular planned picnic, have an unexpected one. Fill a backpack with; a picnic blanket, some snacks (chocolate, crisps/chips and sweets), fruit and sandwiches all in containers then take your partner for a walk in a park, by a river or the beach. Find a quiet romantic spot then ask if they would like to rest for a bit and lay out all the items out and start the surprise picnic. Bring some drinks with you too, either champagne/wine with glasses or something non-alcoholic and, if you want, take a portable speaker with you and play some music from your mp3 player or phone.

REMEMBER: You don’t need Valentine’s day to show someone how much you love them. These romantic ideas are not just for Valentine’s day, and actually, may have a more positive effect if they are done randomly in the year….most people love surprises 🙂
