2011 Reflections – 2012 Planning

“We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day.” – Edith Lovejoy Pierce

The end of 2011 is only hours away so I thought it would be good to briefly reflect on back on the year of how I’ve developed, the biggest lessons I’ve learned, what I’m grateful for and what goals I’ve achieved (I don’t have resolutions, but that’s another blog post).

  1. This year has seen me change from sporadically trying to do everything to becoming more focused (Focus = Follow One Course Until Successful), which as a side effect has made me more chilled out when chaos is happening all around.
  2. I’ve learned that when things don’t go the way I want instead of getting frustrated, just take a deep breath and remember that everything always works out in the end, everything happens for a reason (Yes, it’s cliché time!) and “Will this matter in 5 years time?”. Another BIG thing I’ve learned is to be more grateful for the life I have…sometimes we all think we have it bad but believe me, there may be someone (either close to you or not) that is having a worse time so count your blessings 🙂
  3. I am so eternally grateful for my family, friends, a healthy body, and the roof over my head. Also I am grateful for a planet that has so many beautiful things in it and all the human beings that I interact with. Whether our interactions were positive or negative they have helped move me forward in life.
  4. My main goal this year was creating this blog and the Facebook page. I would like to give special thanks to my older (and only) sister as without her help this blog would not exist today.

My thoughts are optimistic for 2012; even with whatever “scaremongering” there is out there (I wouldn’t know because I stopped watching so much TV about 2 years ago). As long as I’m alive and well everything else that happens is just a mental choice of whether I believe it is good or bad.

2011 has been a great adventure…If I could sum my year up in 2 words it would be “Awesome Experiences”.

If you could sum up your 2011 in 2 words what would those words be? (Please leave your comments below)

Take Care and HAPPY NEW YEAR!! (When it comes for you)
