4 Ways To Stay On Track In 2013 With Your Goals – Let’s Do It!
January 2013 has come and gone already and maybe some of you, like me, are thinking:
“What the……it went so fast!”
Most of us set resolutions or goals and by now statistically half of us would have given up, with nearly the rest forgetting about them. If the resolutions/goals that you set in January have fallen by the wayside, fear not, it’s not the end of the world. In this post I’ll give some steps to improving your success rate on achieving this year’s goals.
Make a plan
Write down your goal on paper, set a date that you want to achieve it by then work your way backwards to the present day. By doing this you know what actions and decisions need to be taken right now to get you on the right path.
This is something I did when choosing what to study at 16 for starting University when I was 18. I decided on the University subject I wanted to study (Computer Science) and then worked my way backwards and decided to study maths, computing and business.
Define your WHY
After defining what you want to achieve or change, the next most important step is to define the reason WHY you want to achieve your goal. Writing this down along with your goal and posting it around your home or office will keep you focused when you feel like losing hope.
Get support
Having a strong network, like friends and family can help keep you on track and push you when you the going gets tough. If you can’t find any friends or family that support your goals then surround yourself with that people that do believe in your abilities.
“Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and thinkers, but most of all; surround yourself with those who see greatness within you, even when you don’t see it yourself.”
Be accountable
An accountability partner is very handy to check up on you to keep you on track and also help silence any negative self-talk in your head. This person will also make sure you’re not just talking about your goal; you’re actually taking action to attain it.
Personally I have a coach/mentor who is successful in my chosen area (property)to keep me accountable with my goals.
One thing to remember most of all if you do face defeat or lose sight of your resolution/goal is NOT TO GIVE UP! You can always start again….and when I say “again”, I don’t mean January 1st 2014….
What goals have you set for 2013? Let me know in the comments or send a message here.
